Sumner Williams was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Williams's career beginnings included film roles in "Knock on Any Door" (1949) with Humphrey Bogart, the Ida Lupino drama "On Dangerous Ground" (1952) and the western "Johnny Guitar" (1954) with Joan Crawford. Williams then began to rack up a number of film credits, including roles in the William Campbell crime drama "Running Wild" (1955), the Robert Wagner remake "The True Story of Jesse James" (1956) and the Curt Jurgens dramatic adaptation "Bitter Victory" (1958). He also appeared in the dramatic adventure "Wind Across the Everglades" (1958) with Burl Ives. Later in his career, Williams acted in "Road Racers" (1959).
